Killing Friends – A Poem

Through a forest a young girl jogs
chasing the sounds of cries and sobs
But then, poor Dana, she’s chased after
They grab her ankles and scream with laughter

Earth attacked by alien fleets
Who mame and kill out on the streets
Nothing compared to what’s in store
While two men fight to end the war

A drunken man who shoves and swears
accidentally stumbles down the stairs
Forced upon Janine: a hobby
Finding a place to hide the body

A day of flirting and celebration
The look in his eyes, an indication
Like something a thriller writer wrote
He wraps his hands around her throat.

A mythical creature on a journey
Suffers from loneliness and worry
At last, she finds the one she needs
Upon the ground he screams and bleeds

A girl who cries in a hospital bed
Scared and abused by the dead.
Her story waiting to be told
But for now, It’s put on hold.

Throughout the house a family sleeping
They can not hear the muffled screaming.
A mother tries to save her kids
Shadowed hands on their eyelids.

A nurse treats fingers, toes and tongues
A sigh of air escapes her lungs
Soon, she will go home to face it
The secret locked within her basement

So many things I want to write
Like battles fought and gifted sight
But now, until the series ends,
With a pen and ink, I kill my friends

Generally, I am not impresed with rhyming couplets. But it wasn’t terrible ;P

Pretty neat! I sometimes randomly like peoms. This was one of them.

Wow. I found that genuinely disturbing :)

Creepy–in a good way. Rhyming poems are difficult to do, but you pulled it off quite well. You made a chill race up my spine.
